Follow the route, solve the clues, and choose a wee treasure at the end

Looking for something fun to do with your family or friends? Why not get more familiar with your local area by doing our Merrylee Treasure Hunt!

It's a short self-guided walk around the area where you solve clues in order to find the treasure. And there's even a wee 'treasure' to take home at the end!

How does it work?

1. Download the instructions and the treasure map.
2. Follow the instructions to find the clues.
3. Solve the clues and cross locations off the treasure map as you go along.
4. You should have just one location left at the end - which is where the treasure is.
5. Choose a treasure and take it home with you!

Why not add an extra level of fun?

To keep everyone interested, before you begin the Hunt, it can be fun to each choose a location from the map where you think the treasure is hidden - will you choose the right one? This adds tension and anticipation as each location is crossed off. Don't worry if you have to cross the location off that you chose - simply choose another one from those that remain and carry on!

Tips

• The map and instructions should print easily - if you're having trouble, make sure you're downloading and printing the PDFs directly, rather than printing them from a preview (e.g. Gmail preview window).
• If you've printed the treasure hunt, it's worth using poly-pockets to keep it dry if it rains.
• If you want to use your phone to do the hunt rather than printing it, you may be able to use the image rather than the PDF of the treasure map - using an app to draw onto the image.

Stuck with the clues?

If you can't solve a clue, try carrying on to the next one - you may be able to solve it once you cross off other locations from the map.
