Derrick is the minister of the church.

I grew up in Airdrie, and committed to following Jesus while practising as an architect. The work of leading small groups in the church brought a calling into ministry. After training through the Scottish Baptist College in Glasgow, l led the baptist church in Motherwell 1998-2011, while also teaching on contemporary ministry in the College after its move to UWS in Paisley, from 2002-2012.

Loved Motherwell but the call to serve in Cathcart in 2011 has been a huge blessing and a chance to explore new ministries in a very different setting. Excited about what lies ahead!

I completed doctoral research through the University of Chester in 2017, exploring creative and transformative transitory re-makings of local places through enabling us to hear each other’s everyday lives. At the moment I’m working on publishing the research as well as living it out, here & now!

I am married, with two brilliant kids.
